JoinMyPlan (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the JoinMyPlan mobile application and related services (the “Service”), a social mobile application that helps people connect and coordinate with others nearby. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information — name, username, email address, mobile number, date of birth, gender, and password (stored only as a secure hash).
  • Profile information — bio, profession, avatar photo, and optional links you choose to add (e.g. Instagram, Spotify).
  • Content you create — posts and messages you send, along with interests, ratings, and saved items.
  • Location data — approximate or precise location (with your permission) to power location-based features.
  • Device & usage data — device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and session activity used for security and to operate the Service.

3. Google User Data

If you choose to sign in with Google, we request access only to basic profile information through Google OAuth — your name, email address, and profile picture. We use this data solely to create and authenticate your JoinMyPlan account and to personalize your profile.

JoinMyPlan’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • We only use Google user data to provide and improve the sign-in and account features you request.
  • We do not sell Google user data.
  • We do not use Google user data for advertising.
  • We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide the Service, comply with law, or as part of a merger with appropriate safeguards.
  • We do not allow humans to read this data unless you give explicit consent, it is necessary for security, or it is required by law.

You can revoke our access at any time through your Google Account permissions page.

4. How We Use Your Data

  • Create and secure your account and verify your identity.
  • Show you relevant people and content near you.
  • Enable messaging, notifications, and other core features.
  • Operate optional features you choose to opt into.
  • Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security issues.
  • Improve and develop new features and analyze how the Service is used.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only:

  • With other users — your public profile and the content you choose to share are visible to other members, consistent with your privacy settings.
  • With service providers — vendors who help us host, operate, and secure the Service under contractual confidentiality obligations.
  • For legal reasons — when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the public.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

7. Your Rights & Choices

  • Access, update, or correct your profile information in the app.
  • Request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account.
  • Revoke location or Google permissions at any time via your device or Google Account settings.
  • Opt out of non-essential notifications.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work continuously to protect your data and promptly address vulnerabilities.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not intended for anyone under the age of 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a revised “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
